It was renamed the Warren G. Harding Memorial Golf Course in 1924. The fairways are somewhat narrow with many challenging, narrow approaches into guarded greens. Although 6,536 yards long, it plays much longer and is a challenge for all handicaps. It requires accurate shot placement to be successful. Harding Golf Course is part of a 36-hole complex along with Wilson Municipal Golf Course. |

Facts about this course
Harding Municipal Golf Course, was Griffith Park's first all grass course designed by George C. Thomas & Ann Trabue, with later changes by William P. Bell & William Johnson. It opened in August 1923 as Municipal #2, also known as the Riverside course. It was renamed the Warren G. Harding Memorial Golf Course in 1924, beginning a tradition of naming Griffith Park golf courses after American Presidents. Harding first held the L.A. City Championships in 1923 and co-hosted the Los Angeles Open's of 1936-1938 with the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Golf Course.![]()

Local Rules
- Out of Bounds is on the right side of holes 1, 4, 9, and 12, as well as behind greens 3, 8, and 18. Out of Bounds is defined by painted white lines, perimeter and protective fences, bridle paths, and OB stakes.
- All buildings (except cart shed, which is OB), staked trees, stakes and support wires play as obstructions.
- All paved surfaces, dirt service roads, drainage ditches within bounds, cement swales, and flower beds play as ground under repair. Swale relief at point of entry.
- Ball on wrong tee, green or alternate green must be dropped off those areas at nearest relief, no nearer the hole with no penalty.
- Ball hitting power lines crossing No.1 and 3 fairways, replay, no penalty.
